Salmon Tartare

Writer's picture: Rhonda MassadRhonda Massad

So many of us will order tartare in a restaurant but will not attempt it in our own kitchen. I decided to give it a go and it came out delicious.

This salmon tartare is inspired by asian flavours of sesame oil, soy sauce and lime. It has a freshness with a bit of punch. To make your tartare not only taste delicious but look aesthetically pleasing, buy this tartare mold. You can get the perfect shaped tartare with this kitchen tool.

Something I want to emphasize is the need for sushi grade salmon. It can be bought either fresh or frozen from your local fish market. I have also seen it frozen at Metro and IGA. Recipe

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of sushi grade salmon, finely chopped

  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon of rice wine vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice

  • 3 teaspoons of soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon of sriracha

  • 2 mini cucumbers, diced

  • 1 avocado, diced

  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, combine sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, lime juice, soy sauce and sriracha.

2. Pour over salmon and mix.

3. Mix in cucumbers and avocado. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

4. Spoon tartare mixture into tartare mold or onto plate. 5. Top with sesame seeds.

6. Enjoy!
